pressure valve assembly into the tee tube coupler.  Apply an axial load of approximately 22 N (5 lbs) between the pressure valve assembly and the tee tube coupler to verify that it is properly engaged into the tube coupler.

option c.  Clean a tube fitting plug with a wipe dampened with alcohol and blow dry as necessary.  Slide a tube fitting plug into the tee position of the tee tube coupler.  Apply an axial load of approximately 22 N (5 lbs) between the tube fitting plug and the tee tube coupler to verify that it is properly engaged into the tube coupler.

Step ll -Proceed to Step l of 3.2.3.

3.2.3 Furcation installation.

Step l - Insert the individual fibers into a tube coupler.  Slide the tube coupler over the fibers to the short piece of BOF tube. Slide the tube coupler onto the short piece of BOF tube and firmly seat the tube within the tube coupler (see figure 2Fl-3).

NOTE:        When the BOF tube from a tube furcation unit with a removable tube is utilized for the 80 mm (3 inch) BOF tube, this step is not required.

Step 2 - Insert each individual fiber into one of the loose tube furcation

cable buffer tubes within the furcation unit (see figure 2Fl-4).  Feed

each fiber through the furcation unit until all of the fibers are

protruding from the ends of the individual loose tube furcation

cables.

NOTE:        Use furcation units identified with a slate color for BOF tubes containing multimode optical fiber.  Use furcation units identified with a yellow color for BOF tubes containing single mode optical fiber.

NOTE:        Furcation units utilized should have a furcation cable for each of the fibers in the BOF tube.  If the number of fibers in the BOF tube exceeds the number of furcation cables, the additional fibers may be cut off after all of the required fibers are successfully installed through their furcation cables.
